Master Bath Suite

Luxurious And Functional

A master bathroom that was originally small, dark, and dated was transformed into a space with more natural light and a “shared separation” by Oxford Builders.

Although there was some partially used attic space above the garage, it was mostly dead eave space. By installing a gable dormer in the back with three windows and then putting in three more casement windows in the gable end, raising the flat ceiling to a semi-cathedral, and throwing in a few skylights, Oxford maximized existing space with minimum disruption to the exterior.

Privacy and intimacy were major factors in this design. Each owner wanted a space of their own but also wanted to retain their daily routine of "catching up" by the sink, which led us to divide the space and install separate entrances, individual water closets, and dressing areas. A custom-built back-to-back vanity enabled sharing while retaining separation; a pass-through shower allowed two people to use it at once without feeling crowded; an oversized soaking tub was installed under the new gable dormer to take advantage of natural morning light; windows could be opened during summer months to allow breezes and sounds of Mother Nature into the bathroom--this ensured a soothing atmosphere aided by subdued colors on walls, warm satin nickel fixtures, and green and white basket weave tiles on floor along with complementing green crackle tiles in the shower (both by Waterworks) to enhance this new sanctuary for these empty nesters.
