1780’s Colonial Restoration

Balance Historic Elements And Modern Amenities

When we were asked to restore this Colonial-style home, Christian was given the task of installing all of the interior paneling and trim. This required a great deal of precision and planning, but Christian tackled the challenge head-on and completed the job with flying colors!

This pre-Revolutionary house was a grand home in its day. Owned by the same family for generations, it was eventually sold and converted into a little-used hunting lodge. Some years later, the house was bought by a young family who saw past the peeling paint, rotting exterior, and dated interiors. With the help and advice of Sam Mitchell of Mitchell Studios, the footprint of the house was expanded and slowly transformed into this impressive country home of today.

Working as part of a team of skilled tradesmen, Christian took the lead to install all the interior trim as shown here. The wet bar with hand-planed counters the custom-built door with bullet glass windows typical of the period; the precise schematic for the foyer's checkerboard floor; and the intricate great room mantel were just part of his responsibilities and demonstrate his craftsmanship at its finest.
