1800’s Barn Renovation
Preserving Historic Character
The owners of this historic cider barn were looking to restore their building to its former glory. Unique and stunning property that blends historical charm with modern amenities, this once-popular cider barn had fallen into disrepair after years of neglect. It was structurally unsound and unsightly. To make matters worse, it was located dangerously close to a busy road, on the crest of a curve at the bottom of a hill. A car careening off the road one night and into the building’s side was proof of this poor location. All in all, it made for a tricky renovation.

Working with the new owners, Oxford Builders selectively salvaged the existing post and beam structure, replacing key posts and beams while reinforcing others where needed. The worn and decrepit plywood siding was removed and new cedar board and baton were put up in its place. Over-sized sliding barn doors as well as a matching transom were built on-site and installed, making the renovation of this town landmark complete.
